about

Nekaroth and Fetharlos enter the arena: the fight starts.

Musical analysis:

This song has so much poweras it introduces all the character's themes and it shows the fight not only with the lyrics (which are a verbal duel between the two competitors), but also through the music.

The guitars represent Verthion and Nekaroth most of the time, and keyboard bells do the same for Isdraelle and Fetharlos.
That is why at the start of the song we can hear a guitar intro. That is Verthion entering the arena. The intro riff kicks in, that's the beginning of the battle.
The first verse is Verthion, sure of himself, saying (pretty much) that he's going to win this fight, as he has won all the other fights of his life.
The first prechorus shows Verthion and Nekaroth's theme, the original being in a harmonic minor scale. The second part of it plays Isdraelle and Fetharlos' theme, but modulated also to the minor scale so it shows that our heroes are in distress in that moment of the fight. Verthion is the one singing it, as if he was mocking them.
Then the two voices finish the prechorus harmonizing, Isdraelle's going from high to low, and Verthion's going from low to high, showing who's winning and who's losing.
The chorus again is a verbal fight.
Then we have the first solo, which is a break to musically show once again Verthion's superiority.
But the lyrics tell us that he is struggling a little bit more than he expected, so he gets angry and is willing to fight harder than ever.
The next pre-chorus is shorter than the first one, and we can only hear Verthion's theme: the combat looks as if it was almost over. Isdraelle is slowly giving up.
The next chorus starts with Isdraelle singing, but the guitars play the chords without the usual rhythm, as if she was tired. Then they go back to the riff when Verthion starts singing.

Then the death metal riff starts: this is Verthion getting all his power together to finally defeat his enemy. But while he is doing so, he is actually afraid, as it was the first time he struggled that much during a combat. Growlings get harsher and the riff becomes more black metal and the song goes into a longer solo.

Final chorus, then we go to an instrumental break with another solo, then a death/black metal riff to grow the tension of the song, as it's the climax of the battle.
The "Fetharlos, Nekaroth" part, harmonized, shows the fight of the two raks more than ever.
Finally, we can hear strings, and a crowd cheering "Fetharlos, Fetharlos...!", showing that in fact, the battle isn't over.

lyrics

Hail the dark lord,
Kneel to my shadows,
You’ll never feast on your glory.

This is my land,
These are my slaves,
You reached the final,
But victory will be mine (be mine).

So, kid, prepare to die.

Thus, Verthion, he flew up to the sky,
—Breathe, my friend.
Raised the dark, possessed into the fight,
—Strength and force!

—Where is the light you claimed would beat me?
—This island I used to love is dying, can’t you see?
—Give in to the dark that lies within you.

—For the light!
—For the dark!

—Unchain my force, you are not enough.
—With all my strength I will try, for this land.
Not enough.

—Blinding light? Up in my sky?
This is not meant to be.
Go my rak, let’s hide this glare,
This will be the last wish of her life.

—Fetharlos, bring me the stars,
That can turn around this unfair fight.

—Don’t you think this is the time to fall?
—I can hear my people cheering for the righteous path.
—There is just one rule they must obey.

—Though it seems I’ll have to free them from perpetual night.
—Though it seems I’ll have to teach them how to remain quiet.

—Unchain my force, I am not alone.
—With all my strength, I will crush your essence.
—Retaliate!

—This tournament has let me rule this land for longer than I remember,
There’s no opponent I will not crush,
Although for this kid it looks a little hard.
What’s her secret? What does she have?
My people seem to side with her flag.
I must kill her, I will destroy her,
Until her last breath has given up.
See me now, what’s your last wish?
No use in fighting, not against me,
Die now, die now, die now!

—Unchain my force, die by my claws.
—With all my strength, I won’t ever give up
—Give up!

Fetharlos,
Nekaroth,
Fetharlos,
Nekaroth,
Fetharlos,
Nekaroth,
Fetharlos,
Nekaroth!
